The Accidental Artisan

Here's what happened. Over the years, boaters passing through La Parguera on their way south (as far as Venezuela) would mail me articles written about down-island artists in
All At Sea, the Caribbean's Waterfront Magazine, suggesting I contact them about my work. At this point I have to pause and explain two things: first, that for these people to take the time and effort to mail something from small, remote islands was quite special; and second, (my apologies to editor Chris), I tend to avoid boatey publications because, being the boater that I am not, I care nothing for regattas and such things. I enjoy the recipes, but the ads and articles only make me dream of heading down-island myself...until reality sets in and I refuse to get bashed around inside the boat just to see more palm trees.

I wrote to Chris who agreed to an interview, but we were delayed by those silly regattas, and then the holidays. I was about to give him a nudge when Ken suggested I write my own article. So I did, and to my delight Chris published it in July's issue. I wasn't sure how to link to the article itself (see www.allatsea.net), so I scanned it instead. Hope you can read it.
Thank you, All At Sea!
